Coffee... too much actually

I will NEVER... ever have FOUR cups of coffee in ONE day! No wonder Hope gets high blood. It's such a horrible feeling - a mixture of nervousness, palpitations, and hypertension. Plus, Bam had the time of her life watching me sing some song in Chicago (can't remember which) with hand gestures while looking up at the ceiling. Gosh! How bothersome!

Take the quiz: "Which God or Goddess are you?"

God of Life
Happy, hyper, and just in love with life. You don't mind being alive, in fact you love it, you like being who you are and just having a good time. You are what makes the heart beat and children be born. Sweet, and cute.

Waiting for the Break

I think I gained weight. Let me rephrase that. I feel that I gained weight is more like it. Yesterday was our office Christmas party and what better way to have it than the Dad's/Saisaki/Kamayan crossover buffet. Of course, if it's JJ it has to be buffet. I stuffed myself with my true love - Salmon Sashimi (para sulit yung P495++). According to my officemates, I really turned orange after all those slices of raw fish. Or maybe it was pink turned orange because of the light.

The happiest part is... I have a Christmas Break and Friday is my last day! Whoopiedoo! So all I have to do for now is get through the remainder of this week (i.e. survive the stress of one particular client) before I truly start enjoying the season.

For now, here's a quiz I lifted off Chris's LJ just to declog my mind.

Macie Kawaii!

Have you ever heard of a six month old baby who can already get on her own two feet, without the help of any grown up? Well, that's Macie. I can't help but gape in awe when I see her pull her little tricks and show to the world what she can do. At such a young age she already exhibits girl power.

Learning how to clap slow when you tell her to and clap fast is one thing. Standing up by herself at that age is another. I just can't help but adore and admire her.

Sometimes, I wonder, am I not used to seeing babies do their thing since the last baby I've seen grow up is Regina? Or the last baby we've actually had in the house was Bam, considering I didn't even want to watch her grow up because I didn't want her when I was four? (Don't read me wrong, I loved her when she was a baby. I just didn't like all the attention going to her, which is probably why Wappy and I bullied her a lot.)

At any rate, Macie, as her doctor says, is an advance baby who exudes cuteness. I can name a hundred reasons why she's brilliant. She eats solids and with the rest of the family, she knows exactly what she wants, she can stand up by herself, she crawls, she loves to open everyone's gifts, she already has a little tooth growing, she knows how to follow directions (i.e. clapping fast and slow), she laughs a lot, she can just sit and look cute, and those are just a few of things since to go on would take me forever.

This Christmas, despite the physical absence of a number in the family, will hopefully still be a happy one. Also, it's our first Christmas with Macie. Truly, she'll enjoy tearing the wrapper off all her gifts, especially the HUGE one from her Lolo, Lola and Titas. It's really nice to have a bundle of joy at home.

The Loyalist

Friday

Happy day! I was miraculously calm throughout the night. Despite bad service at Di Mark's, I felt that nothing can make my already bright and cheerful day go wrong. Oddly, it was Mars and Mark getting flustered rather than sungit old me. I, on the other hand, just sat happily waiting for the food.

Just hanging out with Mikey and Mars is excellent enough to make a good day extra special. And I miss them too. It's been a while since Bam and I have spent time with them. And Mark is such a good guy! Mars couldn't have picked a better guy.

Coffee after dinner at Starbucks was fun too. Just catching up on old and new stories, collecting stickers again, this time for other people since I ALREADY GOT MY PLANNER, and Mike came too! Hmm...

Saturday

VOSA day! Thank God for that! We gave all the "official" VOSA members a VOSA ID bracelet. That day, we were just making a statement.

Some of my thoughts: Bam is still THE BEST flutist; although I also play the violin, Matt is still the best violinist; the VOSA girls sound BEST together with Andy playing; Wappy, aside from Andy, is still the guy with the nicest voice... That's pretty much it! I'm a VOSA ORIGINAL loyalist!

Sunday

Carlos lunch was at the house. MACIE ALREADY KNOWS FAST AND SLOW!!! After 3 to 4 months of clapping the fast and slow with her, she can already clap my hands fast and slow. She's really so adorable. Tell her to do "slow" and she'll do some sound in her throat, hold your pointers, and clap your hands slow. If you tell her to do "fast" she'll stop the sound in her throat and clap your hands fast. What a smart and adorable baby!

Our next project with her is close and open (which she actually should have learned first). Advanced baby! But when I close and open my hands, she grabs my fingers and claps it to do the slow and fast. Cute talaga!

So that's the weekend recap! Til next time.

Blessed Day

Yey, it's Friday! There are so many things I'm looking forward to, but let me first recap my archery practice yesterday.

Coach Chi is back from Korea and of course he knew very well just from watching me shoot that I hadn't trained since the tournament ended. I was dead and battered again. He fixed my form again, from the nitty gritty - I should stand with 50-50 weight on each foot, and I should lower my head to let the string touch my nose and lips - to the more technical - I should relax my grip on my bow some more and let the lower limb fall to just about my thigh, and I should release the string by pulling some more and not just simply letting it go - to the more important - I'm shooting too fast, I should allow 2 seconds to aim then shoot). That was a whole lot to correct again. And since I've developed those bad habits again, I've incurred... Never mind! Bam's reading this and I'll get a beating from her too.

But Coach Chi, former olympian (if I'm not mistaken, a silver medalist in the men's recurve division of the 2000 Olympics, or is it 1996?), shot with MY bow and arrows and WOW! That was a historical moment for all those present at the archery range. My bow had been truly blessed. And I thought Coach Ricky was good.

So, now I'm looking forward to tonight's dinner with the gang. I just have to get through all the obligations of today and I'll be ready to have fun later. Time for a break!

A Little of Something

What's the worst thing that could happen to a girl who's driving an automatic car by herself in the middle of traffic? Run out of gas! Or so I almost did. In the nick of the time, I reached a nearby gas station to load up. Whew! I got scared then since the car didn't want to start even after it was filled half way. Of course, it was really empty so it took some time before it would start up again. Thank God it wasn't the battery.

So I'm back in the office, thinking about all the things I have to finish before the succession of Christmas parties, i.e., wrapping all the gifts and finishing the rest of the people in my list I have to get gifts for. I think I'm panicking.

At any rate, at least I'm getting into the feel of the season and in the mood to share it with the people who add meaning to my life.

Bam - "Be still my beating heart..."

Mikey and Hope - Miss you na! Come back to VOSA!

Faye and Regina - Miss you too!

Chris and Matt - Sing/play with/for us!

Mars - Let's go out!

Mark - Welcome to our crazy brood! You're well-loved.

Mike - Kilig ka ba this Christmas?!? Teehee!

Wap - I think you're rubbing off on me! See above.

Culture, Coffee, Christmas (CCC)

This has been a weekend of fun and culture, all in preparation for Christmas time.

Friday: I got sent home early due to the storm that thankfully never came, so Bam and I stayed home, watched Princess Diaries 2 with chips and dip. Ate was home early too so we watched it again with her that night, also with chips and dip.

Saturday: Bam had this homework for school so we went to Ayala Museum. What a cultural experience! And it's hard to believe such a nice museum exists in this country - a far cry from the National Museum and the Old Ayala Museum. There's actually a lot to see - old sculptures, religious relics, paintings, elephant tusks, dioramas, old clothing... We felt like we were in the scene of The Da Vinci Code. Plus we had to look for that "object" Bam's teacher assigned them to look for that appeared in Capitan Tiago's house in Noli Me Tangere. We found it. It was a slightly romanesque painting by one Belvino Mauricio. If you look at it closely, it looks like a structure of a house with a lot of rooms. If you look at it from afar, you'll see his name boldly but discreetly on the entire painting. A masterful optical illusion.

VOSA time is, as usual, a haven of sorts. I love my choir. Everyone is just simply fun to be with. Then, after mass, it was the usual dinner at Butterfly but with Ate Triccie and Olli. Then we went to Pen with Regina. The Christmas decors are really pretty, not to mention the magnificent tree. It was also then that I was overcome by a sense of pride in my being an Assumption girl. Just watching Regina giving the bulk of her allowance to the Make A Wish Foundation just to make a child happy for Christmas and asking everyone for recyclable junk to sell made me want to share something of my own too. I realized then that in our school, giving need not be a contest. It's done from the heart.

Sunday: To top off the already wonderful weekend was a night of music at the Podium. There to enchant the audience that night were the San Miguel Chorale and Philharmonic. There's something about good music that adds cheer into everyone's lives. Then, for the first time, I treated those present to dinner at Cafe Med. Just thought I'd give something back to all those who've spent and gone out of their way to treat me in the past (Ate Pebs, Ate Triccie and Olli in particular). It's my way of saying thanks.

So today I began the new week well. I'm almost done with my Christmas shopping, plus I had my Starbucks hot chocolate and ensaymada. I hope Christmas this year turns out to be a truly happy one for everyone. On a happy note, I'm signing off.

The Starbucks Experience

I wish I had all the money in the world so I could do my Christmas shopping in Starbucks. I just love everything there - from the atmosphere, to the coffee, to the merchandise. Lucky Bam already got her planner. But I shouldn't worry since I only have 7 stickers left and that's narry a time to go.

On our way home from Tali last Sunday, Bam, Ate, and I were craving for coffee. Despite the rain, the wind and the fog outside, we stopped by the Starbucks in Tagaytay. To the rest it was a crazy thing to do, but only a self-confessed coffee addict can understand the need to do such a thing. Anyway, we needed to use the bathroom too. And I really needed the coffee since I drove the whole way while the rest of my passengers just slept at the back of the car.

Just the sight of the siren gives you the jolt to perk you up a bit. Then there's that first sip (plus the sticker that would earn you the Griffin & Sabine looking planner). Oh God! Because of my useless rambling about my Starbucks experience, I want a Toffeenut Latte.
