Photography Graduation

Just yesterday, I officially "graduated" from my Basic Photography class under Mr. Jo Avila.

About Jo Avila, this guy is galeng! Most photography mentors produce contest winners. Jo Avila produces money-making photographers with good names to carry. Hope I go on and become one of those money-making ones. Not only does he teach the science of photography, he teaches the art.

It was a tiring class, it being from supposedly 6:30 to 9:30 pm but sometimes lasting til 12:00 am. And it's not fun being the only girl. I can't relate to any of them. But I feel fulfilled. It's been something I've been wanting to do for a long time. People tell me I have the eye for it, but this class showed me that there was still a whole lot of room for improvement. Although, yes, not to be yabang or anything, compared to all of my "rich" classmates with cool DLSRs, I, with my film-based Zenit SLR and point & shoot digital produced better shots and better feedback. So I guess having the eye is better than having the camera.

I'm happy that it's all done. I can continue to shoot without having to worry about burning my homework in a CD. Although I do admit I will miss some of my classmates. We shared the same oohs and ahs while learning the tricks and "pasikot-sikots" of Photoshop.

Books and Movies

Spent practically the whole weekend with Macie. For the first time, all because the whole of Palladium was brown out (and Macie can't tolerate heat), they brought her to the house at 1:00 AM for an impromptu sleepover. Ang cute! And because she was in our house and wouldn't let me leave her during breakfast the next day, I obediently stayed with her. Haha! Playing hooky!

Then Bam and I went to the Powerbooks Warehouse Sale where prices were up to 90% off. So I got this hardbound book which was originally P1135 for P239, most of the paperback chick lits, "The Vagina Monologue" and "Sudoku" for P79, some kiddie books for Regina, Macie and Matteo ranging from P39 to P99 max, and a young adult fantasy with a VOYA review for P10. And they're all brand new and in good condition.

Bam and I also watched "Cars" twice, once with Pop as a Father's Day treat. I just love that movie that I can watch it again and again. Also watched "The Lake House" with Ate Pebs and KN. Although it was a bit slow, I liked it. Reminded me of "Griffin & Sabine".

Then it was Macie and Matteo's house again last night for Father's Day dinner. I love those kids!

Matteo... Welcome to the Family!

Last June 9, 2006, Matteo's cries were unleashed into the delivery room of Makati Medical Centre. He weighs 6 lbs. and 12 ounces, and is 51 cm long. What a healthy boy! His name, Matteo, means "God's gift", while Benedicto means "blessed". When placed into context the name Matteo Benedicto means "God's blessed gift". He's truly a gift.

My first nephew and inaanak! He's just so cute... looks like Macie, but with his own face. He seems to exhibit signs of being a takaw baby too, unlike his Achi who doesn't like to eat.

Anyway, everyone's been on their toes to make sure Macie doesn't get jealous. So last Sunday, when Auntie Linda brought Macie to the hospital to see her parents and baby brother, everyone made sure to give her a really big welcome. True enough, she ended up loving Matteo. To top it off, Bam and I even slept over with her for the night and spent the rest of Monday morning doing crazy stuff with her, as well as preparing a welcome home banner for the baby. It was a fun long weekend.

Practically the Day at Willow's

Spent the whole afternoon with VOSA at Willow's practicing for Chris's debut. It was, so far, the most fruitful practice. We finally polished all, at least most, of the songs. And, not to be yabang, I think we sound nice.

It was interesting since we started pretty early, then Mikey and I had to leave for a while to pick up Hope and Matt at the Dasma MRT station. I should have instinctively brought out my camera when we reached the waiting shed since they both looked so cute yet kawawa while waiting for us to come rescue them. It was such a Kodiak moment. Well Chris, we love you that much!

We all got hungry after practice (what's new?) so we had dinner at Rockwell and coffee. And since Matt was gone and Mikey and Hope had to leave, Bam and I just spent the rest of the evening hanging at Willow's house. Our topic of conversation... fads of the times: those push button pencil cases that are back to back, the canister type of pencil case with 2 layers, the kind of ballpens we used that were indispensable - that's the Pilot V5 Techpoint for me, hi-lighters, mechanical pencils, and just plain kababawan.
