Back In The Habit

Finally, after weeks, maybe months, of being idle from my usual active lifestyle and just eating some junk while plopping in front of some DVD with antukin Kuya Nicky, I'm up and about again to lose the weight I've lost and gained, and pursue the hobbies that I've sorely missed and vice versa.

After months of not drawing anything (probably out of getting home late from all the social obligations and KN's new dvds), I made three unconventional works of art. That felt really good! Then last Saturday, I finally went back to archery. I remember now how wonderful it feels to push yourself and shoot some arrows. Plus, I didn't hit myself. Yay!

Amusing as it may sound we now have a new family gimmick... Magic Sing! Grabe talaga ang mga Pinoy! Mahilig kumanta! We know for a fact that Mama Vicky can sing since she was a founding member of VOSA, but we realized that Kuya Nicky, Ninang, and Kuya Mandy CAN sing. They have tune and are just afraid to show that side of theirs. It was also so cute how Ate Boom was kilig when Kuya Mandy dedicated "I Love You Just the Way You Are" to her. Ate Pebs, what's new! She's the epitome of a born performer. But Bam... American Idol in the making when she sang "My Heart Will Go On." Bam, you beat Celine Dion any day!

Architectural Digest

Wala lang! Just wanted to share one of my favorite shots. Long exposure, no flash. Just some sun coming into the room. This is our lanai.

Hmm... I should probably be an architectural photographer.

Saturday at the Fete

This weekend was the most unusual weekend ever. First off, rather than being with the usual friends and VOSA gang Bam and I spent the evening with Anna, Crissy, Wappy, Mike, Jem, and the rest of Wap's barkada.

We all met up at the Fete de la Musique in El Pueblo and Podium, watched cool bands like Blue Jean Junkie and Tropical Depression, a rapper called Gluck Nine, singers like Mishka Adams and Kitchie Nadal. It was really fun. Plus we landed in Dome Cafe twice in a span of four hours, walked in kapit bisig fashion to squeeze our way through the sweaty crowd, witnessed a minor fight, saw the whole world! And Crissy and Anna slept over for the first time.

WAP, I'm so impressed with you, Mike and Jem. You guys are really gentlemen. Galeng! I'm the Ate but you Kuya'd me all the way from the crowd to the car. You guys are the sweetest. God should make more guys like the three of you!!!

JEM, maybe I should start calling you KUYA Jem! Yay!

MIKE, galeng ng willpower mo! You didn't smoke a single butt, despite seeing everyone else lighting one. Hmm... maybe it should be "ang galeng ng Bam mo!" Hahaha!

BAM, what can I say! You're a good Jedi master! Hahaha!

CRISSY and ANNA, t'was so fun with you two! Thanks for the chips and dip! We should have more cousin gimmicks.

Forgive Me When I Whine - nice poem!

Today, upon a bus,
I saw a girl with golden hair.
and wished I was as fair.

When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 legs, the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it'd do no harm.

And as I left, he said to me,
"I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play.
He did not know what to do.

I stopped a moment and then I said,
"Why don't you join the others, dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
And then I knew, he couldn't hear.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 ears, the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

Freezing in My Shell

Brrr! It's sooo c-c-cooooold! What torture it is for this poor turtle to share the same office space with a hard core panda bear. Grabe mag-aircon si Mr. Tonton. Walang patawad. I'm getting goose bumps, standing hair, runny nose and God knows what else I'm getting from this intense cold. It's like being in New York in November without a jacket. Gaah!

Oh thank God! He just left and turned off the aircon. I can thaw!

So anyway, here are some lomos from the Sunday Club swim fling at Forbes.

Sunday Club Goes to Forbes

It's sad that Sunday Club is now just swimming in Forbes when every Sunday of the past 30 years or so was lunch at Forbes then go somewhere after. Forbes isn't even the same Forbes I know anymore. Gone are our favorite attractions of the house that make it grand. Now, it's just nice and modern... that's it.

So anyway, all of us cousins spent the afternoon there swimming at the new pool. It's not that big but it's really nice, and the water was warm.

Macie was so adorable. The cute child is even more at home in the water than her Titas are. She kept laughing and splashing water, and really enjoyed everyone's company. Regina's also really good at swimming already. She actually gave me partial swimming lessons. Nakakahiya si Tita Caren... being taught by a seven-year old.

Regina taught me how to hold my breath under water and she even got me to go to the deep end of the pool. Of course I was clinging to the sides but she promised to swim me back to the shallow part if anything happened to me. Haha! Then she and Wappy taught me to float on my back on my own. Wow! First time I've ever done that and I have to admit that it felt really nice. Looking up at the clouds was really nice.
