The Brain Test

Whoa! This is just freaky! I took this quiz at web.tickle.com and these are my results.

Caren, you are Right-brained

Most right-brained people like you are flexible in many realms of their lives. Whether picking up on the nuances of musical concerto, appreciating the subtle details in a work of art, or seeing the world from a different perspective, right-brained people are creative, imaginative, and attuned to their surroundings.

People probably see your thinking process as boundless, and that might translate to your physical surroundings as well. Some people think of you as messier than others. It's not that you're disorganized, it's just that you might use different systems to organize (by theme, by subject, by color). Straight alphabetization and rigidly ordered folders are not typical of right-brained behavior.

You are also more intuitive than many. When it comes to reading literature, you probably prefer creative writing or fiction over nonfiction. And when it comes to doing math, you might find you enjoy geometry more than other forms like algebra.

Some facts about myself:
1. I love music and I appreciate even classical pieces, what inspired the composer to create such a melody and use such measures.
2. I love art, what's special about someone's work and the love put into creating such masterpieces.
3. I see the world from a different perspective probably because I chose not to enter the corporate world and stuck to an artistic angle instead, or maybe because I still am very much in touch with my childhood.
3. Bam thinks my side of the room is messy, but that's because I fix my things differently.
4. I'm not sure if I truly am intuitive although I always follow my intuition and have, so far, not yet regretted anything.
5. Creative writing plays a huge role in my life and I do prefer fiction to non-fiction.
6. I don't particularly like Math; but if I had to choose which one I'd take again, I'd pick Geometry over Algebra.

S-Days

This weekend was pretty ok. There were a bunch of highs and a few lows but it was good, and something different before the much awaited Bangkok trip. I need a break.

Saturday

After quite some time, VOSA time was Old VOSA. Yey! Except that the mics were soft, we sounded good. Minus Wappy and Matt (who came late), it was just Andy, plus us girls who can all pass for his children, and the three older boys.

Then Bam, Mikey, Mark and I visited Mars at her house due to her eye operation. Stayed there til about 1 am just pigging-out, laughing our heads off over Takeshi's Castle, put Mark through a whole hour and a half with four girls kilig over Mulan 2. Lesson learned from the night - after having one eye covered for some time, you really lose your depth perception. Tip: cover one eye for about 15 seconds. Then reach for a pen that's about 2 feet away.

Sunday

Thanks to Kuya Dondi's consistent planning, the entire Chan family was at Gateway Mall in Araneta for lunch at Taco Bell. Then we had coffee at Starbucks. Regina, though she's 7 and is already a big girl, is still really so cute. After that, to cure our boredom, Bam and I went to Color Me Mine in Podium and we painted. Bam, a plate with flowers just like her painting; Me, a bowl with 2 turtles. That was really therapeutic!

The Sunday Club

April 17, 2005 - The Sunday Club reconvened with yet another interesting field trip; thanks to our club leader, Kuya Dondi!

We went on a sort-of tour of Manila. Not the Manila we know of that consists of Binondo and Malate. Instead, Kuya Dondi took Wappy, Bam and I to the reclamation area to go trekking. While watching the calm sea, the massive rocks, the lonesome seagull, and the many seen from afar we walked the perimeter of Manila Bay, just right behind one of the buildings of Henry Sy's soon-to-be Mall of Asia.

After the trek, Kuya Dondi surprised us with a visit to Manila Zoo. Although the animals' habitat is an eyesore compared to the Bangkok Safari, we enjoyed learning that there were a number of unexpected animals like the deer; the bearcat; silver fox, which emits an odorous scent; and the coutimundi, which looks like a cross between a monkey and a raccoon.

We ventured into a new wing called the Kinder 2005. This is the area where selected animals run free and can be petted. Here are our picture with some of them.

Three red birds and two cockatoos.

It's Crocodile DONDI... and the three kids who didn't really want to get near it.

One happy "barkada": Bambie, Moi, Kuya Dondi, Wappy, and Erika the Ostrich - the very first tamed ostrich born in Cagayan de Oro.

The day adjourned with a quick stopover at Blue Wave, the new dining area the likes of Metrowalk, along the Diosdado Macapagal Highway. Kuya Dondi treated us to Ice Monster for going with him to the Zoo. It was a fun day!

Duped

With all the crazy things going on in this country I can't believe I, along with hundreds of other people, were duped into panicking over a stupid text message from one Sister Reodica who "predicted" that an intensity 9 earthquake will rock Metro Manila on April 14 at 5 pm... that and an email from some guy who said a "psychic" (whose name he omitted for confidentiality-yeah right!) foresaw one of the same intensity for April 13 while he was in Japan.

It was an embarrasing thing, really. I actually had an escape plan since I didn't want to leave my archery bag in the office just in case it collapsed. And there was Ate Pebs, and the rest of the HSBC staff, at the 29th floor of Discovery Center who made excuses that they were going to withdraw money at the lobby or meet clients who didn't want to go up anymore. At 5 pm, they all saw each other downstairs waiting for something to happen.

Of course, we all should have known that this would most likely be some ploy of the cellular companies to earn money from text messaging - not funny at all! Even worse, it could be that nun's pledge to ask people to pray and give alms. Nice try Sister Reodica! We don't even know who you are, or from what congregation you come form, or if you even really exist. If you didn't have the title "Sister" along with your name, I'd say "Go to hell!"

I Shot an Arrow...

by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I know not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in it's flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I know not where;
For how has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of a song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak,
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Sherman's Lagoon

I lifted this strip from somewhere in the net. I thought I'd share it since I found it so cute. I can relate... to the purple one on the left. Haha! Bam and Wap will agree to that. Although I can be the one on the right during my more "kulit" days.

Hopping on a Sunday

I usually hate sundays. I despise having to get up early, rush breakfast, and drive through South Super Highway just to make our weekly trip to the cemetery. But yesterday was unusual. Although we did just that, Bam and I spent the afternoon with only our three cousins - Kuya Dondi, Kuya Ronnie, and Wappy.

We went to Metrowalk, splurged on DVDs and had coffee at Starbucks. We went to Cost-U-Less right after to buy chips for the car. Then we went to Cartimar. Yup, it's my first time to go there and I admit that it is a pretty fascinating place. Unlike every chick lit novel star, I particular enjoyed looking at the animals rather than the shoes. After my Bangkok trip, I think I might just buy a turtle.

After Kuya Dondi bought his aquarium, we went to Power Plant Mall. Bam and I bought Artemis Fowl 4 in Fully Booked while Kuya Dondi and Kuya Ronnie bought some dried-up water creature called a Triops. Then we had dinner with the rest of the clan at Peking Garden.

So this Sunday didn't turn out all bad, in fact, it was quite enjoyable. Til next week again when we do some physical exercise in some part of Manila, don't know where exactly. Thanks for the fun times, Kuya Donds!

Juan Paulo Segundo, te ciero todo mundo!!!

John Paul II, the whole world loves you!!!

I still remember the Spanish delegation chanting this when my own clan represented the Philippines in an audience with the Pope in April 1992. When the impact of their cheering had become so intense, the entire audience joined them in as the Pope made his way through the aisles to meet everyone.

In that same trip, we were taken to the tombs of all the popes. We were shown the tomb wherein they would place Pope John Paul II when he died. Who would have thought that the day would finally come when he would be laid to rest there.

In memory of our dear, dear Pope John Paul II, the above statement is most likely an understatement.

May you rest in peace! Viva el Papa!

In Memoriam

For God so loved the world
He gave us His only son,
Jesus Christ our Saviour
His most precious one.
He has sent us His message of love
And sends those who hear
To bring the message to everyone
In a voice loud and clear:
Let us tell the world of His love,
The GREATEST LOVE the world has known
Search the world for those who have walked astray
And lead them home.
Fill the world's darkest corners
With His light from up above
Walk every step, every mile, every road
And tell the world,
TELL THE WORLD OF HIS LOVE!
