At Pasay City Hall

I actually went to my very first case hearing today. It's not at all like in the movies.

To begin with, Pasay City hall is horrible. Parking is extremely difficult to find; the corridors are so dark; the aircons are not properly cased and are protruding from into the already narrow corridors so it's really hot when you pass by. Then the hearing was not in a courtroom since the blasted Taxi driver who was clearly at fault did not show up.

So I had to talk about the accident like it happened; that the taxi was still far when I made the U-turn; that I signaled; that I heard the screech of the tires before we were bumped and blacked-out to later find that the car had turned 100 degrees and the right rear terribly wrecked. It's clear to the prosecutor that the Taxi driver was at fault. He even put in his statement that he was running at 60 kph which means he had all the time in the world to step on his brake, but no!. Stupid guy!

I also never thought that I'd actually see a man in handcuffs right before me. He looked scary sitting with his lawyer while waiting to be called for his hearing.

Oh well, that's that! The only funny thing was that this gay employee turned out to have a crush on Kuya. No wonder he gets really good treatment at that place.

July Addictions

1. Harry Potter quizzes - which was probably caused by my intense emotions on Book 6

2. Desperate Housewives - I've been sleeping late watching it and having difficulty getting up in the morning. No wonder Ate Char's been raving about it.

3. Cloud 9 - was originally Bam's addiction but I started loving it after buying her a large pack.

4. Double Exposures - caused by people giving me the free 12 shot films that come with whatever promo. So I get to experiment on that and cross processing.

5. Burger Machine - Mike's fault that I keep looking for it. I now buy everytime we pass by Sea Oil.

6. Ensuring that I have the perfect Archery form - more so that the Korean Coach can't tell me that I've weakened due to the three-month leave I took so as not to incure bruises for all the special events.

7. And did I mention Desperate Wives? Yes, I'm that addicted.

Harry Potter Infested

Harry Potter 6 Countdown: 2 days

I've been looking forward to the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince since the time I reserved. Two more days to go and I'm already planning my schedule for Saturday and Sunday... secure my reserved copy first thing in the morning, have lunch, be unsociable til about 4:30 to go to mass, dinner with the family, then be unsociable for the remainder of the night til the wee hours of the morning and Sunday if I'm not done reading by then.

So I've been re-reading the previous books since last week. Oddly, I'm reading Book 5 like I've never read it before. Well, I do remember the gist, but I can't seem to remember a lot of events that took place. And although I know what happens at the end that Umbridge woman still really ticks me off. Plus everything that's going on with the Ministry of Magic can't help but remind me of our current state of government.

Anyway, it's time I go back to finishing Book 5. Will be unsociable til I finish savoring Book 6.

Birthday Best

July 9
This was my best birthday so far since I celebrated my 18th.

First off, I slept through the morning, something I haven't done in weeks. Then I went to lunch at Gayuma with Bam, Faye, Mikey, Mars, and Pau. It's been quite some time since I've seen my dear best friend, and it's also been ages since the last time we've all been together under one roof on the same day. Then, of course, the food was good. I like that place and will definitely be going back there another day.

After lunch, we reconvened at Starbucks. A great morning is never complete without coffee. Mike followed and we just sat there, talking about everything under the sun. We also formed a new, unofficial club called Jerks to Bambie Club (JTBC) as we all have a shared love for inflicting "Karinyo Brutal" on Bam.

After that was VOSA mass. The mics were unusually strong so we sang really well without struggling to make ourselves heard.

Then dinner was at Chili's with the family. Cute Macie was eating the fries and ice cream. Of course, when our family eats it's busog to the brim. Then we went to Peninsula for coffee and chocolate fondue and the rest of the cousins followed.

July 10
As if that weren't enough, there was more good food at our usual clan lunch at Butterfly. Then it was Nail Spa afternoon for the girls.

My Star

I named a REAL star in the sky. It was a birthday gift from Astrology.com so I took full advantage of it. (Fyi, I don't take any of this astrology stuff seriously. I only read it for fun and I like taking the quizzes that come with it.)

I named it Ma. Carmencita Carlos, after my Mom and Macie (who have the same full name, who are alike in so many ways). I haven't gotten the certificate yet but you can view the positioning and some of its details at YourStar.com: Ma. Carmencita Carlos. Warning though, it's really small since I didn't pay for it. Nonetheless, it's still a star to remember my mom by and to bring out the inner star of Macie, the newest member of the family.

Globe: Connecting People

Before I begin this entry, let me assure you that I am in no way paid by Globe to advertise for them. This is merely an entry of pure satisfaction on my part on the signal that Globe has given, that Sun Cellular has failed to bequeath.

So, on to my entry, Bam and I finally made the switch. And what a wonder it is that I am easily able to text people from my own home without having to transfer from the dining room to the den. So I notified all those that matter to me about m change in number. Lo and behold, I got a text from my violin teacher about resuming my lessons.

Apparently, Yamaha never put anyone on my slot because Sir David was waiting for me to clear up my schedule. Since the time I hit Suzuki Volume 1, part 2, of the books he made it his goal to groom me into becoming part of the Chamber Orchestra for strings that he and some other violinists are forming. Wow! I'm touched. But since my schedule can't accommodate the slot they gave me in school, and Sir David can't accommodate me on Saturdays, I'm doing home study after work instead. Yipee!

So it's violin on Mondays, archery on Saturdays, and lomography everyday! The simple joys that signal brings.

Live Journal

OK, so I got myself a Live Journal. Hope claims it's better, easier, faster, and other ers than Blogger. Well, I'll give it a try for maybe a week or two.

My findings: it's easier to customize expecially since I'm really tamad to do HTML and I'm already bulag as it is. And it's interesting that you can just click on the friends pages and view whoever friend just put in an entry, so saves time there.

I'll see though. I'll give it a try. If I like it, hmmm...

Harry Potter Season

Only recently, I visited the JK Rowling Website to read the FAQs, news and rumours on the upcoming Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince). While I learned that Harry Potter is not the half blood prince, neither is He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, nor is Neville because he is a pure blood, I also read about some questions about incidents from the previous books.

Gah these Harry Potter fanatics! They spot and remember every nitty-gritty detail about little incidents, people mentioned in passing, and even minor objects that were used in the story that I don't remember a chunk of what went on in the books. So... I'm reading them all over again.
