This Writer on V DayValentine's Day... what makes it so special? Not the color red. Definitely not spending it with a special someone. And definitely NOT the love that's in the air. I'd say all these are "bahumbug" since I'm not one to go traipsing around the corridors expressing my emotions...
It's special because it's my Mom's birthday. With that, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY!
On to another note, my favorite author said, "Write what makes you happy, write what makes you want to write more." And so this writer ventured into the wonderful land of Tamora Pierce hoping to learn something of substance, and this is what she got in return:

Thank you! I'm glad you love my books so much (time and time again!). I'm especially glad that they inspired your writing. It sounds like you have an excellent way of dealing with your writers block (getting published in a national paper is certainly not the typical path!) ;-)
Keep writing what you love! If you find yourself stuck with your writing again and would like some other suggestions, you check my webpage, in the FAQ section [http://www.tamora-pierce.com/faq.htm#wblock] and you'll see all the fixes I know for writer's block. (though, I can assure you there isn't a more productive tip than writing shorter pieces and getting them published.) I put them all up there in as much detail as I could because writer's block, or just plain getting stuck, is the single biggest problem every writer faces over and over again. I try to explain different ways to deal with it there, the ones I use and the ones that have been suggested to me by other writers, to help as many people as I can. Take a look--I hope you find something that will help.
